Do you want to take a leadership role in driving positive change and supporting the community’s needs? Then we are looking for you! As the Vice Chair & Head of Advocacy, you will be responsible for overseeing the Advocacy Committee and representing the interests of Muslim students. You will play a key role in monitoring university policies, organizing campaigns, and advocating for necessary changes on campus most notably prayer rooms. This role involves working closely with university administration, student associations and finding solutions through creative means.

What does the role entail?
- You will serve as the Vice Chair of the board, supporting the chair in overseeing the overall operation of the association
- You will lead the Advocacy Committee, guiding initiatives that support the rights and interests of Muslim students;
- You will work on organizing campaigns, events, and initiatives that promote student rights and social justice;
- You will represent the community’s voice in discussions with university administrators and other stakeholders, such as in the UvA Sounding board;
- You will ensure the development and execution of strategies that advocate for necessary policy changes within the university.
We are looking for a candidate who:
Has strong communication skills and a passion for social justice;
Possesses critical thinking skills and the ability to think creatively to advocate for change;
Has strong listening and articulating skills, capable of defending ideas and engaging in constructive dialogue;
Is committed to dedicating at least ten hours per week to the association;
Works well in a team environment, with the ability to collaborate and lead when needed
Command of the Dutch language is required
Being an UvA student is required
